Interview
with Scientist
It’s dusk, and the streets of Babylon
are filled with turmoil. The citizens are growing poorer, the warlords
are getting fatter, and our hero Joseph Hill from the tribe of Culture
has been longing for a way out of this mess. He dreams of returning to
Zion where the jungle is green, not concrete, justice is served and
the food is always ital. Caught in this web, the agents of greed and
debauchery threaten to overtake him and his people. He fearlessly
cries out with the warning "Share the riches with the poor before
they share the poverty with you!" and, to his surprise, this time
his call is answered with a resounding echo, the force of which begins
to shake the earth. So he calls out again with a question this time,
"When will this payday be?" and the resulting reverb has
shattered the highrises’ windows! The sky turns a surreal shade of
purple and he wonders- could it be that help is finally on the way?
Could the dub master known as Scientist who apprenticed under King
Tubby and brought us salvation in the form of original, hard dub music
in the 1970s be back to rescue the righteous? The sound of repeating
trumpets and rippling drumbeats bouncing off the crumbling walls fills
the air and lifts Joe’s hopes as he begins to levitate with vacuum
force. The tribe of Culture is drawn up as well, instruments in hand
and harmonies in tow as they are dubbed into a parallel universe.
Could this actually be payday? Has retribution come at last?
Our hero looks back at the city below and catches a glimpse of the
renegade engineer who appears to be orchestrating the entire collapse
of Babylon from a rooftop with a mere soundboard.…To learn what
happens next, go directly to your stereo, don your headphones and
execute the "play" command for this compact disc!
