FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RAS Records is delighted to announce the first ever US concert dates for Chilean reggae sensation Gondwana

At last, US audiences will have the chance to hear the Reggae en Espanol group that everyone has been talking about- live! Gondwana will be performing on Reggae on the River, the United States’ largest and most-loved reggae festival which takes place in Northern California’s French’s Camp near Redway on August 5. Additional dates have been scheduled, including a July 29 show at Baltimore’s Rechter Theatre where Gondwana will be the only other group on the bill with 1999’s Grammy Award-winner Burning Spear. On August 1, Gondwana will perform at SOB’s in New York City, and more tentative dates are to be announced, including a possible Puerto Rico date as well as other US performances.

Gondwana has just released their sophomore album in their native Chile "Second Coming". In just two weeks, the first single "Antonia" has reached number 1 on the pop charts and the record has gone Gold! Their first album Together, released in the US in 1999, reached Platinum in Chile and propelled the group to super-star status. Always humble and sincerely spiritual about their Rastafarian convictions, Gondwana is excited for the chance to extend their fan base beyond their homeland for the first time, as their Chilean concerts regularly draw crowds of 5-10,000 people. Their energetic, well-composed music promoting harmony among all people appeals especially to lovers of Latin, Reggae and World music, though their universal vibe is sure to appeal to the ears and hearts of even the most unsuspecting music aficionado.

Look for the US release of
"Second Coming" July 25, 2000
