Jamaican
Ambassador to the US,
Dr. Bernal is one of Dean Fraser's biggest fans.
So it was an exciting moment of mutual admiration
when the Ambasssdor stopped by the recording
studio to meet with, Dean
Fraser. Dean was recording for producer Doctor
Dread and will be performing on an up-coming RAS
Records, Reggae For Kids CD.

RAS Records' Dr. Dread receives a Lifetime Achievement Award!
On February 29, Gary Himelfarb, a.k.a. Dr. Dread, was honored with the
prestigious "Lifetime Achievement Award." The award,
sponsored by Air Jamaica, was presented to him by the ARMA Reggae Music
Awards in Washington, DC. In 1998, RAS Records was the recipient of the
"One Love-Bob Marley Award," and in 1997 was deemed
"Producer of the Year." The award ceremony and dance, held at
the Ascot Nightclub, was well-attended by the RAS Crew and area
radio and media personalities as well as acclaimed Roots Radics bassist
Flabba Holt and Junior Marvin! The former Wailer graciously sang a few
Marley tunes to warm the audience up for DC's own DKGB. Congratulations
to Dr. Dread for being given the evening's highest award- well
deserved!
