Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare are a house hold name in popular music. Their drum and bass have been the driving force behind innumerable songs for an broad range of artists which includes; Grace Jones, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger and Herbie Hancock, just to name a few. As a production team, the pair has been on the cutting edge of modern dub, ragga, and dancehall.

Mad Professor (founder of the Ariwa label) is one of the leading producers in dub reggae's second generation. His “Dub Me Crazy” series helped dub music make the transition into the digital age, when electronic dub productions started to take over mainstream reggae. Mad Professor also has made a name for himself outside of the reggae community, and soon found himself in demand as a remixer for rock, R&B, and electronica acts. Over the course of the '90s and into the new millennium, he would remix tracks by Massive Attack, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Sade, The Beastie Boys, and Perry Farrell and countless others. 

“Dub Revolutionaries” is the first release from the dynamic duo and Grammy award winning team (for their 1998 release “Friends”) in 5 years. Mad Professor has assembled, for the first time, Sly and Robbie at his Ariwa Studios in London, UK to fulfill his life long dream of working with Jamaica’s mightiest rhythm section. With the addition of sax player Dean Fraser and percussionist Sky Juice, this project has captured the authentic 70’s heavy dub sound from Jamaica called “Rockers”. The results herein prove that the wait was well worth it.
