“Dylan songs as reggae is a natural fit.” - Billboard
Last
year you heard “Is It Rolling Bob? A Reggae Tribute To Bob Dylan.” Now
prepare for Dylan dub-wise!
A phenomenal re-imagination of songs of America's most notable songwriter
by some of the most
celebrated reggae musicians, this remarkable collection marries reggae
stars like Toots Hibbert,
Beres Hammond, The Mighty Diamonds and Sizzla with Dylan material ranging
from “Blowin' In The
Wind” to “Knockin' On Heaven's Door,” now in dub versions.
Dub
is a Jamaican invention from the late 1960's, born from the efforts of a
ground breaking engineer named King Tubby. These versions, dubbed by
engineer Jim Fox and producer Doctor Dread, take on a whole new life as
they grew from the vocal mix into spacey musical excursions. The album
features a newly crafted, Dylan approved, dub remix of “I And I.” The
song originally appears on Dylan's Infidels album, and features the
legendary drum and bass duo Sly & Robbie. Says Sly Dunbar, “Doctor
Dread really did a great job on this. We have now baptized Bob Dylan in
dub.”
